The Drag Racing Crowd in the Spotlight

The crowdfunding industry has witnessed a $2.4 billion transactional increase, opening the door for many niche communities to gain exposure. The numbers are difficult to ignore, which is something that Douglas Deck, founder of the Drag Racing Crowd, is trying to demonstrate to potential donors. Beginning as a child, Deck’s pursuit of his passion was hindered as various racers, and tracks vanished for monetary reasons. Deck is trying to change that by sharing exciting projects through the Drag Racing Crowd with one goal in mind: to revive the niche community of drag racing.

Originally established to inspire the support of small racetracks, and underfunded raceScreen Shot 2013-08-07 at 11.19.06 AM teams, the Drag Racing Crowd has expanded to incorporate a diverse set of campaigns. “Crowdfunding is an educational process in the drag racing community. 98% of people in the community haven’t even heard the term,” remarked Deck.

However, the fight doesn’t end with his efforts to educate the drag racing masses, it concludes with successful campaigns. The Drag Racing Crowd has seen various campaigns emerge, each covering different aspects of the sport. For example, one enlightening campaign is B.R.A.K.E.S with Doug Herbert, which is a free teen proactive driving school designed to teach defensive driving. After losing both of his sons in a tragic car accident, Herbert set out to make sure other parents would not experience the same grief as him.

The evolution of niche crowdfunding is a testament to the growing business. Sites such as the Drag Racing Crowd emerge to aid good people and causes, increasing exposure for their communities. We at Launcht applaud Douglas Deck for his efforts to educate those in the drag racing community and are excited to see what the future has in store.
